Mandap Design

Wedding Wallah visited Mandap Design in the late fall of 2008 and sat down with the owner, Ravi.  The showroom and office are one room and the sample mandaps are all crowded into the same room.  This vendor has some of the latest structures.  We saw some of the newer styles like crystal mandaps and lit mandaps.   There were also a lot of Devdas-style mandaps.  Ravi showed us a few albums of his prior work, but a lot of that seemed dated.  We wanted to see his more recent work in an actual wedding, but that was on DVDs and his DVD player was having difficulties.

Mandap Design's prices were high, given that his mandaps were quite heavy looking structures and because they would require a lot of labor to set up and take down.  We did not sit down to discuss a formal proposal/detailed pricing because Ravi was in a rush and had to leave for a wedding that evening.

Wedding Wallah would recommend Mandap Design for brides who want very large, very structural mandaps that are very glitzy or traditional looking.  You can see good examples of their recent work on their website.  We would not go here for a simple mandap.  We give this vendor three stars - nice mandaps, though service could have been better.

Has anyone else visited this vendor?

I made an appointment with Ravi Verma, who I think is the owner of this company. I'm writing this review because I totally sympathize with the Wedding Wallah bride in having vendors not be there after you drive all the way out to see them.

Anyway, I made an appointment with Ravi, and drove for a few hours with my mom to go see his mandaps, after confirming the appointment the day before. When we got there, the office looked closed and there were a few men in the parking lot loading their trucks with mandap stuff. We asked them where Ravi was and they said he wasn't there. One of them was nice enough to call him, only to find out he was in a wedding at Princeton, which was like two hours away from his showroom. We would have to come back.

I was very annoyed. The same nice guy decided to let us in to the showroom, and showed us a couple of albums. But because he wasn't the owner he couldn't show us anything more. When we asked about prices, same thing, he couldn't tell us anything - only Ravi could do that.

For what it's worth he really does very nice mandaps, beautiful structures (lots of crystal ones and Devdas mandaps), though they were a litle bit too traditional for my taste. But unfortunately, my mom and I didn't want to deal with someone like him on the day of the actual wedding. Perhaps we would have made another apppintment, but he never even contacted me afterwards to say sorry or to reschedule.

Very unprofessional!

I had originally contacted Ravi from Mandap Design to discuss design options for my wedding. His mandaps, though nice, were a bit traditional for my taste, so I opted to hire him for only my sangeet. Unfortunately Ravi was incredibly unprofessional, commenting on how terrible my wedding would turn out because I was not hiring him. He continued to be inflexible, and difficult to work with, eventually forcing us to forego our deposit and hire another decorator for our sangeet just two weeks before our wedding. If you are looking for a cookie-cutter mandap with no creativity, Mandap Design can provide you with your needs. If you are looking for a decorator who will work with you to make your vision come true, Ravi is not the vendor for you.

I used Ravi for my wedding and he was the only vendor that I would not recommend. After you sign with me, he never wants to hear from you again since he has already has your money. He required us to pay full in cash or check 3 days prior to our wedding date (shady). All of this would have been excused if he did an excellent job but he did not- he did not have enough table and chair covers for 2 of my tables. I had 600 guest, everything decorated beautifully and 2 tables with no covers or chair covers. Unaccepable for the amounnt of money he charges. USE SOMEONE ELSE!!

If you don't mind me asking how much did he charge you? My wedding date is in June and I was thinking about contacting him.

Thank you

I got married this past June. I would highly recommend Wedding Design. I originally heard about this company from searching the internet where I came across their website: www.mandapdesign.com (which I must say every bride should really see)As professional as their site is, I felt so was their manangement of my garba, wedding, and reception. They were on time to my event, worked with my banquet, and I never felt pressured to sign or make a final decision. In fact, 20 days before my reception I decided to switch to a completely different color scheme, and Ravi(who I believe is the owner/manager)said it would be no problem, and made the correction for no cost. I'm very please with my overall experience with Ravi and the Wedding Design Team. I had so many positive comments by all of my family and guests. People still call me to ask which decorator I had.

Excellent Work Wedding Design!

We had a wedding with this guy over the summer and he is one of the most class-less, atrocious, unprofessional people you will ever meet. He showed up late to our appt., always forgot what we decided on, causing us to repeat ourselves and re-explain what we're looking for. He was completely inflexible in accomodating us, and his signature line when you try to reason with him is "I've been doing this for the last 10 years!" I swear to you, sometimes I wuld call him and it seemed he was high and barely even lucid. His mandaps are adequate, nothing special. I only went with him because other mandaps were already booked. To go with this guy is like playing russian roulette; you'll never know what or how he will do your event. Planning a wedding is hard enough without having to deal with such disgusting low lives like Ravi Verma. For whatever it's worth, you'd be better off just putting four studs together with a sheet across rather than going with this jerk!

My name is Shalini Patel and I am now happily married to Neal. I hired Wedding Design to decorate my wedding, reception, and garba. I was overall extremely happy with my decor selection. I found this company very detail-oriented, sincerely interested in my opinions and ideas, and professional. I'm surprised with some of the reviews on this site. It's as if we are talking about two different people. I found Ravi and the staff of Wedding Design compared to several other decorators I visited very helpful in planning and decorating my events. I guess we all have our own expectation, tastes, and opinions. In the end, I still highly recommend this company to all my friends and family. Their work is simply gorgeous.

I was just wondering, how much did he charge you guys for a wedding/reception set up? i don't if he over charges different people?

I had an awesome experience with Wedding Design! They were so friendly and willing to listen to my over-the-top wedding fantasies. I found this company easily approachable and professional as well. They have an amazing inventory and so many creative ideas. If you are looking for that wow-factor for your wedding then this is definitely the company to hire. I found the quality and condition of their product far superior to other companies I met with. One suggestion: this company I realize has become quite popular so do not wait until last minute to meet with them. Because they work really hard to make every detail of your wedding look spectacular, they only do a maximum of one or two weddings a day. Therefore, if they are already booked you will be out of luck….so plan ahead. Hands down I give my recommendation to Wedding Design!

I must pay due and praise the great creativity of Ravi Verma of Wedding Design. This guy is sincerely talented. He has a natural gift of envisioning the most beautiful creations. I got married at the Westmount Country Club in January. I will admit that I was your typical bridezilla right up until my wedding day. I had a vision of what my magical day would be like and was determined to get it. While searching for a decorator I visited so many places in both NJ and NY. After awhile many companies just started to look alike. However, one step into the beautiful showroom of Wedding Design I knew I found something special. This company had so many different mandaps and fabulous décor options. Thanks guys for helping me create my fairytale wedding!

Ravi was horrible! His prices are high and his service is lacking. All of my vendors were wonderful except for him. He nickels and dimes for every little thing and requires you to constantly follow up. His attitude can be very rude at times- the last thing a bride needs. I wish I had used someone else. Some who appreciates the thousands I shelled out to him.

Hi we hired Ravi Verma from wedding design for our wedding on June 9, 2012 and he was the worse vendor we had. I wished I knew about this site before I booked him. We booked Ravi last year and after we gave him out deposit, he basically hardly returned our phone calls and gave us an attitude all the time like "I'm the best one here". He nickel and dime us for everything.Day of our event he send his crew and they were late with all our setups. I would avoid him at all cost. His attitude and business practice needs to change.

We would like to thank Ravi Verma and his entire decorating team for the amazing job they did at our Sangeet, wedding and reception. It was truly a wonderful experience working with you. From the very first day we entered your BEAUTIFUL showroom, I remember telling Arun my now husband that I had a good feeling about this place. I couldn’t have been more spot on!

Ravi, you are an amazing adorable decorator, and a pleasure to work with. I have received so many compliments regarding the amazing décor from friends and family. Even months later, our wedding is still the topic of conversation at the dinner table and every family gathering. Your consideration of and execution of every element was phenomenal. Every detail from the crystal strings and votives hung around our gorgeous Mandap to the chandelier descending from above us was all done just like a storybook dream wedding.

WOW! I’m so thrilled to discuss my experience with my wedding decorator. I’ve read so many reviews throughout my wedding planning months. I wondered if I would be so fortunate to have a great experience to share or not. Thanks God, I had a blast! I choose a company called Wedding Design, who’s located near Edison, NJ. I honestly recommend this company to those fellow brides who want awesome décor. This company has what modern brides can relate to: Contemporary concepts, beautiful draping, and glamorous chandeliers. I know they have traditional mandaps as well, however; I wasn’t interested in it so I can’t comment on them. My wedding and reception were just stunning. Even our after party had gorgeous lounge furniture and light up tables to die for. I got so many compliments. My sister-in-law is a wedding planner. I didn’t want her to work during my wedding, so I didn’t include her in my planning. Even she, with all her experience and hundreds of weddings attended, was impressed! I was so relieved. She now recommends Wedding Design. Thanks guys for a beautiful wedding day from start to finish. I appreciate all your hard work. I can’t believe you remembered all the details I wanted. Ravi you even remembered the blue diamond stones for the dinner tables. I don’t know how you were able to finish everything in such a short time. I can’t thank you all enough.

one word describes ravi's work- BREATHTAKING. He is a visionary who knows exactly what you want just by meeting you. My wedding was July 6, 2013 at the Merion. From the minute my brother & I went to see his showroom we were amazed and then we met him and we were sold! Throughout the entire wedding planning process, Ravi was there with his creative ideas and vision. He took what we wanted and made it a reality and it was absolutely GORGEOUS! Every phone call, every email, every visit- Ravi put in 200% to assure me that I was in good hands and trust me when I say I spoke to him a few times every week leading up to my wedding events! I even met with him & changed up colors the day before my sangeet!!! He is the most professional of all vendors I worked with and his work blew me, my family, friends, & my guests away!!!!!!! He did my mehndhi/ sangeet, wedding and reception and it was by far the most beautiful events any of us have ever seen! He goes above & beyond to make everything so perfect & he definitely goes the extra mile to make his brides happy! He even custom made chairs & decorations for me to use at my vidhis as a gift to me! If you want mediocre I suggest you go someplace else but if you want the absolute best, you go to Ravi Verma. He makes it his own and he puts in 500%, he was there throughout my wedding & reception to make sure everything was absolutely perfect & it was indeed. My brother & I love him and you will too. Trust me when I say, he is the best decorator in all of NJ. My family & I found our decorator for life and I hope you do too. Thank you SOOOOOOO much for everything Ravi & Wedding Design Team!

I recommend Wedding Design. They did a great job on my garba, ceremony and reception. Stepping into my mandap hall just took my breath away. I even teared up in admiration of the beautiful mandap. My aisle was done just right with hanging crystal strings and cute kissing balls. They suggested draped canopies over my guests in pink and orange. What a dramatic yet elegant suggestion. It created a beautiful ambiance. I found this company professional, meticulous, and approachable. Text, email, phone, Viber, Whatzap, it didn’t matter, my decorator was available to answer my endless questions, comment on my crazy decor ideas, or just to hear me vent about my family stress. This has to be the best company on the East coast.

Working with Ravi was great from the beginning. We were really particular about the look we wanted for our garba, wedding and reception, we knew exactly what we had in mind and Ravi not only delivered, but he went above and beyond to do it!

We wanted to do something drastically different than the traditional wedding mandap - we wanted a round, draped mandap in the center of our venue, with all the works - a lit chandelier hanging from the mandap dome, a crystal garland backdrop, and an aisle with cascading flower arrangements that complemented the mandap. He made it happen! For the reception, we wanted an elegant and refreshing backdrop, but weren't quite sure how to make it unique and truly us. So Ravi went to work, and made it happen!

He truly has a vision for what his clients are looking for, and he was in tune with everything from our budget to which particular color of rose petals I preferred. Even a month after our wedding, we are still receiving compliments from friends and family all over who have never seen wedding decor quite like his!

We never had trouble reaching him, he was available by text, phone and email - he was even patient and accommodating when we dropped in on him unannounced (oops)! He knew we both lived far so he made sure he made time in his schedule to meet with us when we were in town.

We shopped around quite a bit and did our research- meeting with 5 other mandap designers and speaking with friends and families, so we knew what to expect and what was out there. We highly recommend working with Ravi!

Ravi, and his firm came highly recommended to me by Jennifer Eodice, Sr. Catering Manager of the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, and he did not disappoint. During our one and only meeting, I described my vision for my son's wedding and he instantly got it. Moreover, he made recommendations that truly took the room design over the top. I have family and friends who traveled from as far as Hawaii & the Carribbean who are still talking about how beautiful the venue looked.
Ravi, was a delight to work with. Now, I join Jennifer in highly recommending he and his firm.

I have to say without a doubt that Wedding Design is the vendor of choice when it comes to wedding or event decor. From the very first introduction, Ravi greeted us with outstanding service. Not only that, but his designs are truly modern and in line with current trends. He accommodated our every need and helped in any way he could. He is extremely honest so you won't have to worry about any hidden or additional costs. He also will do whatever he can to make your event look fresh and unique. Im so excited and happy to have worked with him. He is timely and responsive. His professionalism and creativity is top-notch and I highly recommend working with him! I rarely take the time to write reviews but this is one vendor that will not disappoint!
